Monday’s announcement of £9bn investment in rail infrastructure is a welcome sign that someone in the UK Government has made the effort to open an economic textbook. In response to a collapse in private investment, you need the public sector to step in and create jobs. Shame it has taken them two years to work it out and that North Wales misses out on much needed investment.
We have had a few welcome U-Turns from this government now – can we hope for some more? How about a tax on bankers bonuses to fund jobs for young people and instead of a tax break for millionaires, put a halt to the police cuts?
